CMLL and some old school US Blu-rays…

Actually make that one more week…   :)

I was feeling a little beat tonight, so thought I would skip…

Hoping to see a recording of Stuka Jr. vs. Virus…

Assuming the main event will go the way of Dragon Rojo Jr., Polvora, and Rey Escorpion, leading to a trios title match…

Picked up Blu-Ray copies of WWE releases “ECW Unreleased – Volume 2” and “The Best of WCW Monday Nitro – Volume 2” yesterday… I tend not to listen to the between match stories since i’m not really into re-written, adjusted history, though Tommy Dreamer and Joey Styles were funny at times. I will not offer my opinions on the host of the other discs…

Some decent stuff worth watching on both. I would say the highlight of the WCW discs were mostly the cruiser weight matches. Of those:
– Jushin Liger vs. Dean Malenko
– Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Juventud Guerrera
– Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Eddy Guerrero
– Rey Misterio Jr., Juventud Guerrera & Hector Garza vs. Psicosis, Silver King & La Parka

In this case, this La Parka is the current LA Park and Psicosis the more recent Nicho… Didn’t really care for the rest and just about everything from the Vince Russo era is worth skipping. One of the Blu-ray extras is the creatively names Mr. JL (or Jerry Lynn to the rest of us) against the NWO Sting (formerly Cobra)… they went all out on the extras…

As for the ECW set, much like the ECW itself, it all depends on what you are in to as there is the standard variety. Also nice to see a former co-worker and traveling partner appear in one match. Only thing that kind of bothered me was the quality of some footage. There was actually tracking problems in the footage, as if they were converted from VHS tape, which kind of sucked. Though not as many highlights for me, I personally enjoyed reliving:
– Terry Funk & Arn Anderson vs. Bobby Eaton & Sabu (even with the video problems)
– Terry Funk vs. Cactus Jack
– Taka Michinoku, Dick Togo & Terry Boy vs. El Gran Hamada, Great Sasuke & Gran Naniwa
– Eddy Guerrero, Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Dean Malenko, Too Cold Scorpio & Cactus Jack

That last match being the highlight of the set as it was even better than the version from their Barely Legal PPV show.

Overall, I paid $23 total for both, so not bad pick ups.
