The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 1 – 0 last night in Sugar Land, TX. The final line on Roger Clemens was 3 1/3 innings pitched facing 11 batters, giving up one hit, no runs, no walks, and two strikeouts. He threw 37 pitches, 24 of them for strikes.
The game drew an attendance of 7.724, which was up from their average attendance of 6,682. The Skeeters lead the Atlantic League in attendance, drawing 374,202 thus far in 2012. Sadly, Bridgeport is at the bottom of the attendance list this year, drawing 109,933 fans for an average of 2,036 per game. Considering I attended Bluefish games for 7 years, being a season ticket holder for most of those, that is a stat that hurts to see. It’s tough to draw in that area since you are surrounded by so many other teams, but hopefully it can get turned around.
